FAQ About ISS | Meet the Staff | Word Skills Test

PROSPECTIVE STUDENT:
A large share of being a successful scopist is possessing good word skills, which include vocabulary, punctuation and grammar. This is a "test" to ascertain your level of language skills. Its purpose is simply to demonstrate whether you are at the necessary level of English skills to begin the scoping course, or whether you might want to consider taking a refresher class in English either in conjunction with or before attempting this course. Therefore, there is no purpose to be served by using reference books to help you with this test, since you will only be possibly hurting yourself if you begin this course prematurely.

You may either download the test to your computer or print it directly from the site, then retype it in either Word or plain text format and e-mail it to ISS Admissions at issadmit@montana.com. Please include your name in either the e-mail or the test. The corrected, graded test will be e-mailed back to you with comments from the instructor about the possible need for a refresher course, etc. Unfortunately we can't accept Word Perfect format and we would also ask that you please not track your corrections as this makes it difficult to correct.

What if I score poorly on this test?

Note: E-mail is not always 100% dependable.  If you don't hear back from us within a day or so, please contact us again or feel free to call us at (406) 544-5441.
